Student Council is responsible for representing and serving the needs of the student body through coordinating student activities and charity fundraisers and holding meetings as needed. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. The student council helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform. EMS Student Council also coordinates charity drives, like the Salvation Army can drive and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society change drive. Finally, Student Council members also make an effort to make the school year fun for students and staff. All members of Student Council were recommended by teachers because they are excellent representatives of the student body.
