Chess Club is open to all students in Grades 1-5. Students can participate as much or as little as they like. In the fall, students are taught how to play the game. Then, they can meet with the club once a week until spring, after the state championship tournament. Most students choose to participate in the recreational club and play just for fun. Others, if interested, students can participate in local, regional, state and national tournaments.
Throughout the year, we offer several opportunities for students to complete in academic competitions, in class as well as outside of class. These include, but are not limited to, Forensics, SeaPerch Robotics, Science Olympiad, Math Olympiad, Continental Math League, and Illinois Math League.
K-Kids provides opportunities for students in Grades 4 & 5 to work together in service to school and community, to develop leadership potential, to foster and development of strong moral character and to encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation. K-Kids is sponsored by the local Kiwanis chapter. For more information, contact Mrs. Armellani at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We encourage and support parents who are interested in supervising Girl or Boy Scout troops. We currently have several groups that meet regularly.
