Rockford Public Schools is hosting a clinic open to all area basketball coaches on Saturday, Oct. 18. The clinic – the only one of its kind in the Rockford area – brings together a diverse group of successful local and regional coaches to share insights and improve student athletics and coaching technique. Coaches can still sign up for the clinic, and attendees can earn CPDU (Continuing Professional Development Unit) credits.
The clinic offers lessons from two Division I coaches: Tim Miles, Head Men’s Coach for the University of Nebraska, and Kathi Bennett, Head Women’s Coach for Northern Illinois University. Other presentations are from local successful coaches. “This is one way to help develop local and regional coaching talent,” said Mat Parker, Director of Athletic Activities and Program Development for RPS 205. “There’s a need and a want for quality coaching and training. We’re fortunate to have such a talented pool of presenters to work with RPS and continue to help us improve our athletic programs.”
Auburn High School, 5110 Auburn St., is hosting the clinic. Please use the new field house entrance on the building’s east side. The clinic is open to basketball coaches at all levels. Coaches outside RPS 205 are also welcome. Registration is from 8:30-9 a.m., and the first session beings at 9 a.m.
