A letter was sent home last week to families at Auburn High School about a confirmed case of pertussis, or whooping cough, at the school. Letters were also sent to families at West View Elementary School and West Middle School regarding probable cases. Those affected by the illness are receiving treatment.
In the letters, parents were encouraged to contact their child's school nurse, the RPS Health Services Office, or the Winnebago County Health Department. The letters also encourage parents to look for symptoms of the illness.
