Choose In-Person or Full-Time Remote Instruction by Aug. 3

 7/29/2020

RPS 205 families and staff,

Thank you for your patience and support as we finalize plans for the 2020-21 school year. A family-focused handbook (click to view English handbook, click to view Spanish handbook) was developed to give families and staff a better idea of what to expect for both full-time remote instruction and in-person instruction. Handbook updated 7/30/20: Face Coverings or Masks, pg. 13

Our plans focus on three major areas: Safety, social-emotional support, and student achievement. Each of these three areas is paramount as we return to school Sept. 1, the first day of school. View our quick, at-a-glance summary of our back-to-school plans (click to view English summary, click to view Spanish summary, click to view Arabic summary).

Building principals are developing school-specific plans to ensure students and staff remain safe at each building. The family handbook includes guidelines and general recommendations for families – specifically parents/guardians and students – to review ahead of the start of the school year. We are still finalizing some details of our plans, and we want our families to understand expectations so we can keep everyone safe as we continue teaching and learning.

In that handbook, we're asking families to complete this survey (click to take English surveyclick to take Spanish surveyclick to take Arabic surveyand choose either in-person instruction OR full-time remote instruction for their K-12 students. If a family does not submit the survey, students will – by default – be enrolled in in-person instruction, and transportation will not be provided. We need to develop staff assignments for schools and bus routes based on students' needs.

Follow this link for a list of frequently asked questions – and answers – from families and staff. If you have questions or concerns about any plans outlined in the family handbook, please share them via Let's Talk. We will continue to update this handbook as information is fleshed out and share more answers to frequently asked questions. Find the latest information on rps205.com/backtoschool

These plans were developed in partnership with our families, students and staff, and we appreciate your continued support. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ehren Jarrett
