Bricks from Cherry Valley Elementary School will be available to the public starting today. A limited number of bricks will be in a pile outside the construction fence, first come, first served.
Demolition of the school, 619 E. State St., Cherry Valley, began Wednesday, March 27. It has been vacant since the end of the 2017-18 school year.
The Rockford School Board approved plans – based on community feedback – to tear down the school and transfer the vacant land to the Village of Cherry Valley. Students living in the Cherry Valley attendance zone now attend the new Cherry Valley Elementary School, which opened in August 2018.
