The National Merit Scholarship Corporation released a list of scholarship winners this week, which includes Auburn High School senior Ethan Strombeck. Strombeck will receive a $2,500 scholarship and the distinction of being a National Merit Scholar. He was chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding finalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship program. He plans to study music.
All four Auburn seniors who were named semifinalists in September for the 2019 National Merit Scholarship moved on to finalist status in February. Academy students Melis Dik, Gabriel Roethle, Lael Verace and Strombeck are among some 15,000 semifinalists. Today's release is the second of four announcements of winners in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
By the conclusion of this year's competition, about 7,600 academic champions will have won National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million. For more information: www.national merit. org .
