West Middle School eighth grade Rotary Leadership Academy students are tasked with creating a service project during the school year. Last year at West, the Rotary students created the Student Assistance Fund. This fund is available to West students and families in need. The need could range from help with groceries or accessing outside counseling to sending flowers to a student who is hospitalized.
This year the eighth grade Rotary students created the Student Assistance Fund request forms, the box the forms are put into and flyers to help students identify how to access the fund. Students will hold a Compliment Gram sale during all lunches tomorrow Feb. 11. All profits from the sale will go directly to the Student Assistance Fund.
The Compliment Gram sale will allow students to buy a Compliment Gram – a personalized written compliment from a student/staff to a student/staff – for 25 cents. The gram will be delivered to the intended student/staff by a Rotary student on Valentine's Day. This is a very simple way to spread positivity throughout our school while allowing our students to be active contributors to the Student Assistance Fund.
