I recently received a call from Breo Pierce, operations manager at SwedishAmerican, Brookside Specialty Clinic. Breo spearheaded a donation of coats, clothes, hats and gloves at the Brookside clinic and wanted to donate the collected items to Summerdale Early Childhood Center. During that call, Breo and I realized that we went way back. We were classmates at Welsh Elementary School and childhood friends! He decided to personally deliver the donations to Summerdale.
Breo and I felt connected the moment he hand delivered the donations to Summerdale. We remembered being kids and growing up together on Rockford's west side. It felt rewarding to give back to our beloved neighborhood. Breo and I took a few photos to capture the donation and our reunion. I was so excited that I sent a photo to my brother, Dr. Jeffrey Weeter, a fellow Welsh alumni and an associate professor of music at University College Cork, Ireland. Breo shared that the connection made across the world gave him chills. It was a great full circle, gratifying feeling to be directly affecting the Rockford community – especially the exact neighborhood where the three of us share childhood memories of Welsh Elementary School.
