For years, Rockford Public Schools has recognized its amazing staff and volunteers for their commitment to students through the Those Who Excel education awards. The wonderful statewide program, sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education, is presented in partnership with the Rockford Education Association and the Rockford Public Schools.
The awards honor individuals who make outstanding contributions to the educational community, and the REA sponsors an annual dinner to honor teachers, administrators, community members, student support personnel and others involved in creating a superior educational climate.
Winners move on to the state level, sponsored by ISBE, for their accomplishments at three levels: excellence, merit and recognition.
As a former winner, I know what an honor it is to have your peers nominate and recognize your work with students. Please take the time to nominate the people around you who make a difference in students' lives.
The deadline for nominations is Thursday, Feb. 28. Click here to access the nomination packet.
