I am proud to say that I am a Rockfordian. My kids are Rockford Public Schools students. This is our Rockford. It's where the whole world lives together. The Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee is a perfect example of our district's diversity.
The mission of the RPS 205 Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) is to support the mission of RPS 205 and to advocate for excellence in all programs serving English learners. We want to ensure that linguistically diverse students have equal status and access to quality education. We encourage students to be lifelong learners, to demonstrate high achievement and to develop the skills and characteristics to enjoy happy and successful lives. The BPAC strives to provide family support, communication and information to achieve the program goal of becoming bilingual, biliterate and bicultural.
BPAC duties: • Maintain open communication between the parents of students in the program and the school district. • Provide parents of bilingual students the opportunities to learn and discuss the English Language Learner program. • Inform and discuss the purpose and advantages of bilingual and English as a Second Language education. • Provide input on topics for parent education programs.
Please join us at our next BPAC meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8!
