The Rockford Chamber of Commerce has worked diligently over many years to ensure
that students and employers can connect and be aware of the careers available
in our region. We are at a time when quality workforce is scarce and where
students need to receive the best information and experience they can on career
choices. On Oct. 11 the Rockford Chamber, the Career Education Associates of North
and other partners hosted the Rockford Region Manufacturing Day. We paired 12 high schools, including all
within RPS 205, with various manufacturers in the region for tours and
education on a career in manufacturing. Over 400 students participated in the
tours, a general session, and a manufacturing expo. The students were very
interested and amazing! The manufacturers were incredibly impressed! Career
exposures don't have to wait for special days like this one. Reach out as a school
to area employers, or vice versa. There are many willing partners!
We anticipate this process will speed up in the coming days.
