We're featuring RPS 205 alumni on the 205 VIBE! We caught up with Guilford High School graduate John M. Alongi, class of 1989. Alongi is a math professor at Northwestern University and lives in Chicago.

I earned my bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics at Northwestern University. I work as a Professor of Instruction in the Department of Mathematics at Northwestern University.
As an editor for Valhalla, the Guilford High School yearbook, I refined my writing skills and developed greater self-awareness. Constance Pemble was the faculty adviser for Valhalla, and she continues to be a close friend.
Throughout middle school and high school I had extraordinary mathematics teachers: Katherine Volkman, Richard Jurgens, William Orr, Margery Orr, Thomas Wallen and James Koehn. I am grateful to all of them.
