I enjoy finding community resources to enhance my students' learning. I recently invited the Winnebago-Boone County Farm Bureau to present Agriculture in the Classroom to all the kindergarten students at Spring Creek Elementary School. The Ag in the Classroom program offers many topics that coordinate well with Integrated Literacy in my classroom.
The first presentation was about maple syrup. It included a story about sap harvesting, posters, discussions and a syrup tasting. Then students wrote about the process.
Two other presentations, Gardening Greatness and Busy Bees, have been planned that address several kindergarten essential learning outcomes (Life Cycles and Impacts on the Earth).
Thank you Winnebago-Boone County Farm Bureau for being a great resource for our students!
We anticipate this process will speed up in the coming days.
