I volunteer for United Way's IREAD program at Ellis Elementary School as well as the Rockford Rotary Club's Rockford Reads program at McIntosh Elementary School.
I enjoy volunteering. There are so many kids that need just a little bit of help from someone, and being able to read is a leading indicator of success later in life. Being able to provide encouragement – and have a little fun – makes the kids so happy. They love spending time with volunteers who care about them and take a little extra time to listen to them.
Thank you to the hundreds of RPS 205 volunteers who recently gathered at the Tunes in the Garden Volunteer Celebration at Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden. You are all an important part of the community of educators in Rockford Public Schools. You all make a difference!
