The focus of Goal 1 is to ensure students are college and career ready This goal contains measures on the academic achievement of students, the value the district adds to children through education, and the social emotional learning of students.

District Assessment Growth (1.3) measures the growth of students on academic knowledge and skills, as well as cognitive strategies, necessary to succeed in college and career. 

Full Definition: Percent of students who achieved expected growth on their grade level district assessment.

Post-Secondary Preparation Activities (1.k)​ measures the knowledge, skills, and behaviors apart from academic content that allow students to successfully access college and career opportunities.​

Full Definition: Percent of 12th grade students who were involved with one or more of the following during their high school career: 

- 3 or higher on AP test
- Dual credit course completion with C or better
- Earn a nationally recognized certification/license
- Create a senior capstone project
- Attain a silver ranking or better on the National Career Readiness Certification Performance. 

Data Source: Data for this measure is still being collected to set a baseline

College and Career Readiness Portfolio (1.c) measures the knowledge, skills, and behaviors apart from academic content that allow students to successfully access college and career opportunities.​

Full Definition: Percent of students who complete at least 2 benchmarks per year in 8th grade and at least 3 benchmarks per year in high school.

5 Year Target: 80% of middle school students and 90% of highs chool students reach the benchmark target.

​​State Asse​​ssments (1.n)  measure the performance of students on academic knowledge and skills, as well as cognitive strategies, necessary to succeed in college and career.

Full Definition: Percent of students who achieved a Meets or Exceeds on their grade level PARCC assessment.

Achievemen​t in Transition Years (1.b) measures the academic knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in college-level courses and behaviors of active participation and perseverance.

Full Definition: Percent of students in 3rd and 5th grade who are reading at grade level and the percent of 8th and 9th grade students that have passed the required number of courses to stay on track for high school graduation.

Graduation Rate (1.i) measures the stduents who are able to succesfully progress through their multi-facted K-12 education.

Full Definition: Percent of students who graduate with a regular highs chool diploma in 4 yaers with the group of students the students tarted with in the beginning of 9th grade.
