Creative and Performing Arts

Seussical Jr. the musicalRPS 205 offers a comprehensive K-12th grade arts education that is based on the National Standards for the Arts. For those students in grades 6-12 needing more in-depth arts experiences, RPS 205 provides the Creative and Performing Arts Program (CAPA). The CAPA program is offered at two sites, one for middle school students and the second for high school students. CAPA gives each student a unique real-life experience in one or more of the fine arts disciplines: Dance, Instrumental Music, Theatre-Tech and Media Arts, Vocal Music and Visual Arts. ​Acceptance into the program is by audition.​​

CAPA Summer 2017 Make-Up Auditions for Fall 2017 eligibility:

Auditions will be held August 14, 2017 at Auburn High School 5110 Auburn St, Rockford, IL 61101.   

Once sign up is complete students/guardians will receive an email to fill out an audition form to be used to identify the student and gather information about the student.

Middle School:  Students entering grades 6th through 8th will audition for CAPA Middle School at Auburn High SchoolThese students need to sign up to audition as part of a group of 10. Please sign up using the student's legal first and last name. These students will audition for two hours from 12:30-2:30 and must arrive 15-20 minutes early to check in before the audition. Parents may stay during the audition but students will be auditioning without parents for the entire two hours. There are a limited number of spots. If the spots are full you may still come to the day of auditions as a walk-in and if there is a cancellation or no-show you will be placed into that slot.

High School:  Students entering grade 9th through 12th will also audition for CAPA High School at Auburn High School.  These students need to sign up for up to four, no more than four, disciplines in which they want to audition.  

Students may choose from the following disciplines: Visual Art, Media, Dance, Theatre, Technical Theatre, Instrumental Music, and Vocal/Piano Music. For both Vocal and Piano, use the Vocal Music/Piano link. For all other instrumental auditions, band or orchestra, click on the instrumental link. Please sign up using the student's legal first and last name. Students must arrive 15-20 minutes early to check in before the audition. There are a limited number of spots. If the spots are full you may still come to the day of auditions as a walk-in and if there is a cancellation or no-show you will be placed into that slot.
