About the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SSAC)
The RPS 205 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is a group of 15 students that meets twice monthly with a goal of encouraging goodwill, leadership and unity among RPS students and the district. Students focus on positive aspects of RPS 205, increasing community service within the district, and improving collaboration with the schools, administration and community.
In the spring the SSAC will serve in the Great American Clean-Up, organize a district-wide talent show and volunteer at Sharestuff. The group is committed to find ways to recognize other RPS 205 high school students who donate their time in the community. Earlier this school year the students were guides at the Academy Expo, volunteered at the Veterans 5K Run & Walk and hosted a bingo at the Cor Mariae nursing home. During the holidays SSAC members dressed up as well-known characters at Stroll on State, helped with the Salvation Army Food Drive and bought gifts for children at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
We're looking for students to serve on the SSAC for the 2018-19 school year!
One seat is open to a student representative from Auburn High School. Two seats are open at Jefferson and East. Three council seats are open at both Guilford and Roosevelt. Applications are due May 4.
