All-Star Honors:

Three of Auburn's varsity players were named to the IHSSBCA  (state coaches' association) All-Sectional Scholastic Bowl Team for class AA schools for the 2018-19 season, and two of them are under consideration for All-State Team honors. [The list of honorees is on the IHSSBCA web site (to access it, go to the home page  and click on awards, then All-Sectional].

1.  Ethan Strombeck, senior, team captain, 4 years on the AHS varsity A team.
He is a strong generalist, with special strengths in history, literature and the fine arts.  Possibly the best player in the nation in the category of music.  This is the fourth year he made the All-Sectional Team.  He made the All-State Second Team as a freshman, and All-State First Team in both his sophomore and junior years.
Ethan started playing quiz bowl when he was in sixth grade at Marshall M.S. [Second from L in photo]

2.  Leif Verace, senior, 1 year on the AHS frosh-soph team and 3 years on the varsity A team.  Leif did not play quiz bowl in middle school, but has studied a lot, including every summer, to develop to a high level of play.  His best area is science, but he also is fairly good in the visual arts, and gets questions in several other subjects.  He has served as team captain when Ethan could not be there.  Leif was named to the All-Sectional Team his junior year. [Second from R]

3.  Lilly Chavez, senior, 1 year on the AHS frosh-soph team and 3 years on the varsity A team.  Lilly started playing quiz bowl at Marshall M.S.  Her strongest areas are literature, mythology, and pop culture.  Lilly has also served as team captain when Ethan could not be at an event.  This is the first year Lilly is being honored as a member of the All-Sectional Team.
