East High School's gymnasium and swimming pool sustained significant water damage after a pipe burst during last night's storm. Despite the damage, school will still start on time Monday, the first day of the 2015-16 school year.
Administrators are assessing the damage and making alternative plans. The gymnasium will be out of service for at least two weeks, and the pool will be out of service for at least eight weeks while repairs are made. Locker rooms will still be accessible to students. The school's main office also sustained minor ceiling damage; no other new construction or renovated areas of the building were affected.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
