Tonight’s gymnasium dedication at Cherry Valley Elementary School is
rescheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4.
1/23/2019: Cherry Valley Elementary School students and staff will dedicate their gymnasium to Leonard B. Keller, a former Cherry Valley resident who attended Cherry Valley School and Guilford High School. Keller was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War who received the Medal of Honor. The event is at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, before the school's first ever home basketball game. Keller's family plans to attend the event.
The school opened to students for the 2018-19 school year. Leonard B. Keller's namesake was suggested for the new school more than a year ago for the district's first new school construction since 1998. The name Cherry Valley Elementary School was ultimately selected, with a recommendation to honor Keller in another way at the new building.
The district's second new K-5 school, Constance Lane Elementary School, will open to students in the 2019-20 school year.
