When you step into Summerdale
Early Childhood Center, you’ll notice a colorful mural on a hallway
floor. Our sensory pathway at Summerdale is colorful and nature-themed. The
pathway runs the length of one of our hallways. Many of our children with sensory
needs, as well as children struggling with social emotional issues, benefit
from this pathway. The pathway is utilized as a movement or sensory break for
our students as needed during the school day. These types of sensory breaks can
aide students to focus their attention and increase their ability to retain
information in order to grow in their classrooms. Thank you to the Dean Alan Olson Foundation for funding this project.
