What a great feeling it is to know your kids will have a summer full of engaging activities and educational opportunities that expand their minds and bodies in new and fun ways! To help our families navigate and get organized for summer fun, we are bringing information together in one convenient location, with experts on site to offer guidance and answer questions.
The RPS 205 District Parent Advisory Council Leadership Team will host a Summer Resource Fair on Thursday, March 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Flinn Middle School gym, 2525 Ohio Parkway in Rockford. It was such a fun and well attended event last year that we moved to a bigger venue to expand opportunities for our vendors and attendees. RPS 205 will provide free pizza, cookies and bottled water, plus drawings and gift certificate giveaways from our vendors to some lucky attendees!
The Summer Resource Fair will bring together a great combination of more than 40 local organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and exercise-oriented and health-conscious companies. Families can gather information from all attending vendors that are of interest to you and your children. Information about fun summer camps, outdoor adventures and educational activities will be ready for your children to jump in, be engaged and have an exceptional and memorable summer!
We have so many wonderful participants coming this year! At 6 p.m. we will have an interactive, 15-minute yoga session, led by Miranda Buell of The Calm Company. Miranda will offer a free, family friendly session for ages 3 and up! Whether you are a first timer or a long time follower of this mindful form of movement, breathing and meditation, you won't want to miss this special activity. Hoo Haven is scheduled to bring a collection of snakes! It's a fun event and we hope to welcome many of our RPS 205 families!
I benefited so much from attending and learning about new possibilities for my daughter, who had a really special summer last year. To quote from one of our attendees from last year's event who posted on Let's Talk!, "I attended the fair last year and was so appreciative of the opportunity to gather the materials related to the schedules, costs, interest areas and educational enrichment offered by the wide variety of summer programs offered in the Rockford area." We couldn't agree more!
See you Thursday!
